DESCRIPTION:Active Transportation in Northern Alberta: A look into the development of the Town of Peace River’s Active Transportation Plan\nSponsored by Bunt & Associates\n\nLocated 486km northwest of Edmonton\, the Town of Peace River is the second largest centre in northwestern Alberta with a population of 6\,620 people. The recent construction of a new bridge across the Peace River with dedicated active transportation infrastructure spurred significant opportunity for active transportation connectivity through the Town. \nBunt & Associates\, together with the Town\, developed an Active Transportation Plan to provide infrastructure and policy recommendations to provide the Town of Peace River with critical initial steps towards continued active transportation growth. Bunt will present an overview of the Active Transportation Plan project including a look into Peace River’s current network\, a highlight of some of the geographical and climate challenges\, and the draft plan. \n\n\nAbout the Presenter:\n \nErin Tattrie\, RSE\, AScT \nErin joined Bunt & Associates in 2019 after graduating from BCIT. Since then\, she has obtained her AScT designation with ASTTBC and now works in Bunt’s Kelowna office. Erin has been involved in a range of transportation planning projects\, including transportation impact assessments\, active transportation plans\, transportation demand management plans\, parking and loading studies\, and GIS analysis. Erin has an interest in developing transportation networks that integrate all modes in a safe\, efficient\, and sustainable manner.\nOutside of work\, Erin enjoys curling\, archery\, volleyball\, soccer\, snowboarding and camping. \n \n\nLunch will be served at 11:45 am and the presentations will start at 12:15 pm. \nRegular pricing is active until October 1st. DESCRIPTION:LoRaWAN is a technology in the Industrial Internet Of Things that has unlocked the ability to solve problems that were not easily solvable with battery powered Long Range radio networking technology. The technology is still in its infancy and has unlimited potential in commercialization of new and evolving solutions. The presentation will introduce the technology and the capabilities around Smart City applications such acoustic monitoring for loud vehicles. \nPresenters: \nColin Adderley\, B.Sc\, B.Eng\, P.Eng \nAn innovative\, professional engineer practicing in Calgary\, Alberta\, Canada working collaboratively with a proven record. Colin has over 20 years of engineering experience that includes telecommunications\, product & software development\, operations and major capital projects over his career. The last five years at the City Of Calgary\, he has spent engineering\, developing\, testing and collaborating on emerging IoT technologies and preparing the City ecosystem proactively to be able to adopt new technologies. The collaboration with internal and external teams also focuses on solutions that reduce business risk and help validate operating requirements. His contributions to the collaborative work has helped the City win multiple awards in the Smart City space. When not at work\, he enjoys his family activities around music\, food\, sports and exercise. \nAmy Sun\, M.A.Sc\, B.Eng\, EIT \nAmy joined the City of Calgary January this year. Since joining\, she has quickly learned her way around and contributed to many IIoT use case design and deployments. Outside of technical contributions\, she co-presented at the IT Connect 2024 event: demonstrating how the city benefits from LoRa technology. Prior to joining the city\, she held a role as a Radio Frequency System Designer in equipment manufacturing. Her prior work experience also includes working for BC Hydro and Fortis BC in the utilities industry. \nIn her free time\, Amy enjoys golfing\, gardening\, and playing the guitar. She is passionate about learning new technology and applying it to solve real-world problems\, a trait she picked up while completing her Master of Applied Science degree in Wireless Communication. This presentation will cover our journey to this point\, a description of our system being piloted\, some implementation notes\, and ideas on what the next steps may be. \nSpeaker Bio – Morgan Glasgow\n \nMorgan Glasgow is the Supervisor of Traffic Signal Timings for the City of Winnipeg. He started at the City’s traffic signals branch fresh out of his M.Sc in 2016. He’s been with the City since then in a few different roles working with great people doing great work. Morgan loves working on projects that have a local impact. Outside of work\, he likes going to the park with his toddler. \nSpeaker Bio – Cassidy Zrobek \nCassidy Zrobek is a traffic signals timing engineer at the City of Winnipeg. She obtained both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba. Her graduate research focused on options for enhancing network-wide annual average daily truck volume estimates. While completing her studies\, she served as the Community Chair\, Treasurer\, and President of the University of Manitoba ITE Student Chapter.
