Reporting to the Development Approvals Supervisor, the successful applicant will:
– Direct, coordinate review and provide comments on engineering drawings for proposed residential, commercial and industrial developments
– Provide guidance and direction to internal staff and external designers with respect to Regional, Municipal, Provincial and Federal Standards and Regulations
– Review, approve and submit the necessary applications to provincial agencies for issuance of Environmental Compliance Approvals
– Resolve complex design problems taking into consideration specialized engineering solutions, environmental and community sensitivities and cost effectiveness
– Review and provide comments on Regional and local Municipal Planning Act applications such as the Official Plan Amendment, Rezoning’s, Site Plans, Land Division and Proposed Plan of Subdivision Applications
– Evaluate and recommend modifications to Regional Standards
– Review and comment on Regional and local municipal engineering contract drawings
– Respond to inquiries from internal divisions and Regional departments, external customers, local municipal staff and local and Regional politicians
The successful applicant will possess:
– A three-year Civil Engineering Technology diploma or a related discipline
– Registration or be eligible for registration as an Engineering Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T.
– Several years of related experience
– Knowledge and understanding of watermain, sanitary sewer, storm and transportation design, Regional Official Plan, Development Servicing and Subdivision Agreements, Development Charges By-law and the Provincial Planning Act
– Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective customer service skills, problem solving, analytical, project management and organizational skills
– A valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and the use of a reliable car
