Transportation Engineer – Align Engineering

Located in sunny Kelowna, BC, Align Engineering Ltd. (ALIGN) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer at an intermediate to senior level to join our team of professionals. ALIGN is an employee-owned municipal engineering firm based in Kelowna, BC. The company provides professional engineering consulting services in transportation engineering & planning and municipal design & construction. The team at ALIGN is made up of dedicated transportation and civil engineering professionals focused on supporting municipalities.

Role Description

This is a full-time role for an intermediate or senior transportation engineer. The position primarily involves the following typical duties:

Transportation planning including master planning and network planning.
Traffic engineering including intersection operations analysis, traffic control warrants, signage and marking plans, traffic management plans, traffic calming, and so on.
Road safety analysis and reviews.
Transportation input and review of design drawings.
Transportation design and review support.
Transportation business case development.
Correspond with clients, governing bodies, subconsultants, and suppliers.
Project management including managing budget, invoicing, etc.
Business development including (not limited to) client engagement and proposal writing.
Technical report writing.
Provide technical support.

Qualifications Applicants must posses the following at minimum:

Eight years of relevant work experience.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized institution.
Current membership in good standing with EGBC.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
Proficiency with Synchro and/or SIDRA.
Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and an insured and reliable vehicle is required for business use.

Preference will be afforded to applicants who posses the following:

Experience working for municipal clients.
Transportation design experience.
Project management experience.
Pleasant, friendly demeanor with a commitment to exceeding client expectations.

Work Schedule

Start date to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Typical work week is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week.

Work Location ALIGN runs a work from home business model and does not have a central office location. Employees are required to have a sufficient home office and be located in the Central Okanagan to be available for site visits, meetings, and staff appreciation. ALIGN hosts monthly social and other events for team members to connect with each other and clients.

Remuneration

Pay rate $60 per hour, more experience will be compensated accordingly.
Profit sharing eligible.
