Transportation is a dynamic and growing profession with excellent career growth potential and exciting opportunities! Transportation professionals, including engineers, planners, technologists, and researchers, are in great demand across Canada to plan, design, operate, and manage transportation systems. ITE Canada is here to support all students interested in transportation careers.
Joining ITE is the first step in growing your transportation career. ITE is an international membership association of over 18,000 transportation professionals who work to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. Membership is FREE for full-time undergraduate and graduate students.
ITE Canada offers annual Scholarships & Awards for full-time students enrolled in transportation programs at accredited Canadian universities and colleges.

Becoming an ITE member (FREE for full-time students) gives you free access to ITE International’s Learning Hub webinars, TrafficWiki plus many publications, the e-Community forum, and much more.
ITE Canada also hosts several virtual workshops each year from October/November to May/Jun on specific training topics. These workshops are offered with discounted rates for students.
Our flagship event is the Annual Conference which happens every year in May or June with the location moving across Canada. The conference starts on Sunday evening with a Welcome Reception followed by 2.5 days of technical sessions, tours, and networking opportunities, culminating with an Awards Luncheon on Wednesday.
Registration for ITE Student Members is heavily discounted and many Student Chapters fundraise to further reduce their costs.
This professional and career development summit, organized by students for students, is typically held on the Saturday and Sunday right before the Annual Conference. Plan to extend your trip and participate in this event!
Canadian members of ITE receive email notifications for every opportunity posted to ITE Canada’s Job Board.
ITE Canada’s award-winning video series offers job-seeking, networking, and career development advice through honest conversations hosted by Kate Whitfield.
Getting involved in ITE is an instant connection to thousands of transportation professionals. There is no better way to connect with hiring companies and agencies than attending in-person events hosted by your local Section, many of which offer free or discounted student registration.
Contributing to your Student Chapter in a formal role is an even better way to build up your resume and get to know professionals in your area.
