PRESENTATION
Moving the World: The FIFA World Cup 2026™ Mobility Plan: The FIFA World Cup 2026™ (FWC26) was a key opportunity for the City of Toronto to showcase itself on the global stage as one of North America’s largest, most diverse, and sustainable urban centres. Adhering to the FIFA Hosting Requirements, the objective for the Host City, along with Transportation Partners, was to deliver a world class transport system for the Tournament that provided safe, efficient, and customized mobility for all Tournament related groups in an environmentally responsible way, while prioritizing maintaining service levels for background traffic and the general public. The purpose of the Mobility Plan was to identify strategies for moving constituent groups, including transport modes that would be used. This presentation will examine how the plan performed, where there were challenges and what some of the key lessons learned were that can be applied moving forward.
