Senior Transportation Engineer

As the Senior Transportation Engineer, you will provide technical expertise in the development, maintenance, and application of transportation forecasting models for evaluating transportation infrastructure capacity/needs, transportation policy and land use policies. Primary duties include:

  • Plan, design and lead the development and maintenance of transportation forecasting models and related systems.
  • Manage large and complex projects by scheduling projects, assigning work, monitoring work progress and providing input into performance evaluations for professional staff.
  • Represent the division on business unit and corporate cross-functional project teams.
  • Conduct complex technical analysis and interpret results.
  • Guide staff and internal/external customers in interpreting modeling analysis results.
  • Provide Engineers on team with training, mentoring, technical oversight and support on the use of transportation forecasting models and other analysis tools.
  • Oversee the design and administration of survey instruments to monitor and understand travel behaviour.
  • Make recommendations on technology, including planning hardware specifications and software requirements.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related Engineering field, registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or licensure by the first day of work.
  • At least 6 years of post P.Eng experience in transportation engineering analysis, travel demand analysis and transportation modeling is required.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Experience in Transportation engineering analysis, transportation system evaluation and travel demand analysis are required.
  • Working knowledge of methods and practices of travel demand models and travel behaviour data collection is an asset.
  • Understanding and application of travel demand modeling and other transportation simulation and analysis software is an asset.
  • Understanding and application of database software is an asset.
  • Success in this position requires excellent communication skills with a focus on explaining highly technical results to less technically oriented audiences.
  • You have well-developed analytical and organizational skills.

Compensation: Engineering Level F $100,567 – 154,029 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
