The City of Edmonton’s Development Services Branch is looking for a Transportation Engineer to assist with the review of land development applications including district plans, neighborhood or community plans, rezoning and road closures. Reporting to a Senior Engineer, this position will support the Planning Coordination Unit by applying transportation engineering and planning knowledge to identify transportation requirements related to land use changes and recommendations that will have short-term and long-range impacts to the City.
The position supports the implementation of the City Plan with a focus on planning and optimizing transportation infrastructure that meets the demand of a growing, complex city and serves an increasing number of destinations using a variety of travel modes. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will also collaborate with other work areas and improve your understanding of broader considerations required in the urban planning process.
Keeping in perspective the cost, staging and prioritization of infrastructure, this role, under the supervision of Senior Engineer(s), will initiate discussions and work closely with area developers, adjoining municipalities, City staff, the public, and higher orders of government to support orderly development, seek resolution to conflicts and advance City interests and corporate objectives.

Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week
Salary Range: $80,592 – $115,131 Annually
