About TAF

TAF is a regional climate agency that invests in low-carbon solutions for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) and helps scale them up for broad implementation. We are experienced leaders and collaborate with stakeholders in the private, public and non-profit sectors who have ideas and opportunities for reducing carbon emissions. About TAF’s Clean Transportation Manager
TAF’s Clean Transportation team advances practical, scalable solutions to reduce emissions from how people and goods move across the GTHA. We focus on reducing vehicle kilometres travelled (VKT), accelerating mode shift, and advancing transportation electrification.

Reporting to the Director, Clean Transportation, this is a hybrid strategy-and-delivery role. You’ll translate ideas into action, leading projects, pilots, and partnerships that test, refine, and scale low-carbon transportation solutions in real-world settings.

We’re looking for someone who brings strong project management skills and a solid understanding of transportation systems and decarbonization. You can navigate complex, multi-stakeholder work, connect strategy to implementation, and communicate clearly with a range of audiences.

What you’ll do:
Program & Project Implementation

• Lead initiatives, pilots, and demonstration projects that reduce transportation emissions in the GTHA
• Design and deliver work on transportation electrification (e.g., EV readiness, charging, fleets) and VKT reduction (e.g., mode shift, travel demand management)
• Manage multiple projects, including timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables
• Working with the Director and cross-functional teams, translate strategy into clear scopes, plans, and delivery approaches
• Engage with municipalities and partners to deliver projects that test, refine, and scale practical approaches to driving reduction and low‑carbon mobility
• Manage vendors and consultants, including procurement scoping and contract oversight

Project Design, Evaluation & Scaling

• Help design new initiatives and pilots, including objectives and metrics
• Track performance and assess outcomes
• Turn project insights into clear outputs (e.g., briefings, playbooks)
• Integrate funder requirements into project design and reporting

Policy Support, Research Translation & Strategy Enablement

• Contribute transportation expertise to strengthen TAF’s policy and research
• Turn policy and research into practical project approaches
• Contribute to reports, blogs, and other knowledge-sharing
• Stay current on emerging practices and apply them to projects

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Team Collaboration

• Build and maintain relationships with municipalities, partners, and stakeholders
• Represent TAF in meetings, working groups, and implementation-focused forums
• Lead engagement activities (meetings, workshops, events)
• Work across teams to ensure coordinated, integrated delivery
• Lead proposal development, funder reporting, and stewardship

Organizational Excellence

• Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
• Represent TAF professionally in all interactions
• Participate in planning, team initiatives, and learning activities

Knowledge, skills and abilities we’re looking for:
Skills:

Essential

• Project & program management: Able to plan, coordinate, and deliver complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
• Transportation knowledge: Understanding of travel demand, mode shift, EV readiness, emerging technologies, or related urban systems
• Systems thinking: Connects strategy, policy, and implementation in practical ways
• Communication: Clear, concise writing and speaking; able to synthesize complex ideas for different audiences
• Stakeholder management: Experience working with partners across sectors and managing external consultants
• Organization & adaptability: Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment

Helpful

• Experience working with municipalities, public agencies, or nonprofits
• Familiarity with evaluation, performance measurement, or applied research
• Experience with fundraising, proposals, or funder reporting
• Familiarity with CRM systems or data management tools
• Experience applying an equity lens to project design and decisions
• Comfort using productivity or AI tools to support work

Experience & qualifications

Essential

• Postsecondary education in a relevant field (e.g., urban planning, transportation, public policy, environmental studies, engineering, geography), or equivalent experience
• Approximately 3–5 years of progressive and relevant experience in transportation, climate, planning, policy implementation, or program/project delivery

Helpful

• Experience working on clean transportation or urban climate initiatives in the GTHA or similar contexts
• Experience in consulting, government, nonprofit, or cross-sector environments
• Professional certifications (e.g., P.Eng., RPP/MCIP, PMP) or progress toward them
• Membership in relevant professional associations

What we offer:
The starting annual salary range for this role is $92,000 to $96,500. We use an established pay grid and follow a consistent an equitable approach to compensation to ensure fairness across our team and equal pay for equal work. Candidates whose experience and qualifications exceed the listed requirements may be offered a starting salary at the higher end of the posted range.

• $1,040 stipend ($40 bi-weekly) to support cellphone and internet costs.

• TAF-wide office closures on 14 City-designated and statutory holidays (includes Easter Monday, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Remembrance Day), plus a winter break between Boxing Day and New Years’ Day (3 business days).
