Manager of Traffic Services

Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, the Manager of Traffic Services is responsible for the overall management of City s Traffic Services Operations. Services include: traffic operations, traffic signal systems management, street light maintenance, traffic and parking by-law review, road safety and vision zero initiatives, and capital project management.

The Manager of Traffic Services is accountable for; achieving program goals through the effective and efficient utilization of staff resources and financial tracking systems; developing and delivering quality services in a timely and cost effective manner; providing program delivery with a strong focus on customer service; implementation of best management practices to improve quality and efficiency; and, maintaining and forecasting budget adjustments for a growing network.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Transportation Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in municipal traffic operations.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of proven experience and knowledge in transportation system management, day to day traffic signal planning and operations, traffic and parking by-laws, and best management practices.
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) and/or Road Safety Professional (RSP) would be an asset.
  • Management experience with an emphasis on continuous improvement and development of team members to promote and support a high performing team.
  • Highly effective leadership, facilitation, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, the Ontario Traffic Manual, Manual of Uniform Traffic Control devices (MUTCD) for Canada and Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Guidelines the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and all road safety related legislation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, GPS/AVL systems, mobile applications, and work order systems.
  • Valid Ontario G class driver s licence and have access to a personal vehicle.
  • IMS 200 Certification or equivalent (ICS200) is considered an asset. Subject to course availability, certification must be achieved within the first year of employment.
     

WAGE/SALARY RANGE: $57.87 to $72.34 per hour (based on a 35-hour work week) plus benefits
