ITE—A Community of Transportation Professionals (ITE) works to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users, helping to build smart and livable communities.
Founded in 1930, ITE is a volunteer-driven association of more than 18,000 engineers, planners, consultants, educators, researchers, technologists, and students working in more than 78 countries.
ITE Southwestern Ontario Section (ITE SWO) is affiliated with the ITE Canada District. We provide opportunities for professional development and community building at a local level. We host meetings and events throughout Southwestern Ontario such as technical presentations, dinners, and technical tours for transportation professionals and students to exchange knowledge and connect.
The Southwestern Ontario Section has hosted the ITE Canada District Annual Conference twice: 1994 in Windsor and 2014 in the Region of Waterloo.
In 2024, the Southwestern Ontario Section was awarded the Section Momentum Award for the first time.
In 2009, the Southwestern Ontario Section co-hosted the Annual Student Presentation Competition and Job Fair.
The University of Waterloo Student Chapter has been awarded the Outstanding Student Chapter Award in 2003, 2009, 2024 and 2025 and has been awarded the Student Chapter Momentum Award in 2023.
The University of Windsor Student Chapter was awarded the Student Chapter Momentum Award in 2025.
