Hameed Dagher is a Transportation Project Manager with McElhanney Ltd. in Calgary and has over 8 years of experience in transportation engineering, road safety, traffic operations, and transportation planning. Throughout his career, Hameed has worked with municipalities and transportation agencies across Alberta and British Columbia, helping deliver projects that improve safety and mobility for all road users. Hameed is passionate about promoting the transportation profession and creating opportunities for members to stay connected, informed, and involved. He believes ITE plays an important role in bringing together transportation professionals at all stages of their careers and is excited about the opportunity to help highlight the work, achievements, and events that make the Southern Alberta Section a strong and active community.

I am excited to put my name forward for Publicity Coordinator of ITE Southern Alberta for 2027. ITE has played an important role in my professional development by providing opportunities to learn from industry peers, build meaningful connections, and stay engaged with the transportation community. As Publicity Coordinator, I would like to contribute to the Section by helping members stay informed and creating opportunities for them to connect, learn, and become involved.
Through ITE, I have volunteered as an abstract reviewer with the ITE National Technical Program Committee, participated in TAC’s Road Safety Committee, and attended a variety of online and in-person technical sessions. I have also volunteered with other organizations, including serving as an abstract reviewer for CARSP. Along with earning my PTOE and RSP2I designations, these experiences have reinforced the value of professional organizations in connecting technical knowledge, practical experience, and diverse perspectives. They have also encouraged me to take a more active role in supporting the profession and its community.
My work has given me the opportunity to work across different areas of transportation rather than focusing on a single specialty. Whether coordinating safety projects, facilitating stakeholder discussions, or working with communities and schools to address safety and accessibility concerns, I have often needed to bring together different perspectives and communicate information in ways that are useful to different audiences. I believe this broader perspective would be valuable when communicating the work and activities of the Section.
As Publicity Coordinator, I would focus on delivering clear, timely, and engaging communications that keep members informed and connected. I would look for opportunities to enhance the Section’s online presence, highlight the contributions of our members, and showcase the initiatives that make ITE Southern Alberta a valuable professional community. I see the Publicity Coordinator role as an opportunity to contribute through communication, outreach, and collaboration while learning from the experienced professionals who volunteer their time to support the Section. I would welcome the opportunity to work with the Executive Committee and Section members to continue building a strong, connected, and welcoming transportation community across Southern Alberta.

I am submitting my nomination to serve on the Institute of Transportation Engineers Transportation – Southern Alberta Section as the Publicity Coordinator role. I am passionate about ITE’s goal to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users. Throughout my career, I have communicated information to leadership, operations teams, contractors, municipalities, and external stakeholders to improve the safety of transportation operations. I am a Professional Engineer with over eight years of experience in transportation, infrastructure, and public service organizations. My career has focused on the rail industry, including my current role with the City of Calgary supporting operational readiness for the Green Line project and previous experience with Canadian Pacific Kansas City managing transportation infrastructure programs across Canada and the United States. My experience preparing reports, coordinating stakeholders, responding to service disruptions, and representing transportation organizations has strengthened my ability to develop clear, accessible messaging and foster productive public engagement. I would welcome the opportunity to support committee communications on LinkedIn, prepare publications, and assist with the monthly luncheons communications and organize sponsorships to promote informed transportation discussions across Southern Alberta.
