Thank you for your interest in contributing to Transportation Talk! This quarterly publication reaches Canada’s largest community of transportation professionals including transportation planning and engineering practitioners, industry members, and post-secondary students and faculty.
To submit an article idea to Transportation Talk, please propose your idea to communications@itecanada.org. Include your affiliation/organization and a brief outline/summary of the article being proposed.
Publication Dates: January, April, July, and October annually
Submission Deadlines: Approximately one month prior to publication, to be established after the article is confirmed
Article Length:
Please ensure that your article is written as “ready to publish”. We will review for spelling or grammatical errors and make minor adjustments or suggestions for readability. You will have the opportunity to review a draft and provide revisions prior to publication.
Resources: We encourage you to share any resources or links that our audience would find useful, which we can include in a sidebar or hyperlink within your article text. We are open to any specific suggestions you may have for laying out your article and will do our best to accommodate.
Please provide a short biography (approximately 50 words) and headshot (sent as a separate file, not embedded in a document) for each author to include at the end of your article. If the article has been written on behalf of a group or organization, a description of the organization and logo (if available) can be provided as an alternative.
Please provide original photos, when available, without any cropping or compression as separate files, not embedded in your document. If the quality of the photograph is not sufficient, the image may not be published. The editor may also seek out related photos to include with the article. You are welcome to suggest photos to include with your piece but note that we will only publish photos with permission or those with Creative Commons license. Please include photo credit info with any photos provided.
Preference for the data for tables and graphs to be provided in an editable format (e.g., spreadsheet) rather than as a completed graph image file.
Any graphic elements should be sent separately as a high-resolution image or vector file (e.g., JPG, TIF, EPS, PDF) at least 150 ppi. Please do not embed images in the text document. If it is a spreadsheet-generated graph you have created, you can also provide the data as we may be able to recreate the graph to better fit the layout and design of your article.
Authors retain the copyright to their submitted articles after initial publication in Transportation Talk. If you wish to grant specific permissions for your content’s use, please communicate your preferences during submission.
