Canadian Capacity Guide for Signalized Intersections – 3rd Edition (2008)

Canadian Capacity Guide for Signalized Intersections - 3rd Edition (2008)

ITE Canada continues to provide access to the Canadian Capacity Guide for Signalized Intersections (CCG), Third Edition (2008) as an archived document. This technical resource was long regarded as a storehouse for Canadian traffic engineering knowledge related to signalized intersections and was endorsed by the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) as a national reference on the topic. As of December 2023, the CCG is no longer identified as a best practice by ITE Canada.

The Guide included a comprehensive methodology for analyzing and designing signal phasing and timing for intersections, saturation flow data from across Canada, discussion on transit priority operations, designing for safety, and other relevant topics. Four worked examples were provided. In 2018, this intersection capacity analysis methodology was added to PTV Vistro and will continue to be available in that software as an archived method for signalized analysis procedures.
