The first ITE student chapters were organized at the University of Illinois and Yale University in 1947. Currently there are 130 chapters around the world. Although the programs and activities of each student chapter vary greatly, the goal of introducing students to the transportation profession and supplementing their classroom and laboratory experiences has been maintained.
